My oldest Daughter loves to hear stories before bed. I think we, as adults, do that to. We entertain ourselves on our phones, the computer, watching tv or some other form of entertainment.
I always try to oblige when asked to tell a story to my kids. Sometimes they want a story from a book. Other times they want a made up story.
About five years ago, my wife made up a story about a moose to teach my daughter a lesson how to share or be kind to others, I don’t really remember the first story.
Nonetheless, it evolved into many stories about this moose named Charlie. My daughter wanted to know all of the life details of the moose, so over the years we have filled those in. It breaks down like this:
Charles and Charlene had a moose baby named Charlie. Charlie has a brother named Sulivan.
Charlie has many friends but the ones he spends the most time with in the stories is Gary the Duck, who loves swimming in the pond a stone’s throw from Charlie the Moose’s cabin in the woods. Gary the Duck also owns a bakery in the town near where they live.
Another good friend is Jerry the Jaguar. He doesn’t have a location of residence in the story but it is to the West.
Along with every good story there has to be an antagonist. In this story it is Barry the Badger.
One night recently, my daughter asked me to tell her a Charlie the Moose story. I was feeling creative, so, I came up with a brand new story I had never told here before with a new topic that I had never used before. This is what I came up with:
