Cherish The First Few Years
Our kids grow too fast. Just yesterday they were small enough to fit in our hands. Now they like to do anything else. This poem is dedicated to the memories of the first few years. If your kids are still that age when they are in these years, give them an extra hug, it won't last long.
A Growing Poem
They quietly coo and smile at you.
They sweetly sleep and rest on your cheek.
They raise their voice with a soft cry,
Feed me, change me, I'm tired, is all they need as days go by.
Practice patients and help them grow.
Guide them in the path they should go.
Raise them to scoot, crawl and walk.
Teach them all the words they need to talk.
Teach them at the table what they can paint.
Reprimand them when they utter menial complaints.
Open their lens to the optimistic view.
This will be a powerful life lesson tool.
Help them understand when they are being naughty.
Teach them to be big by going pee in the potty.
Play with them, as they choose, in the park.
Snuggle and squeeze them while lying in the dark.
Help them cherish the first few years,
These memories are better than regrets tears.
Now they are grown and the time is far past
"To many regrets," we say looking back.
Forge ahead and make memories starting today.
Hopefully it isn't too late for your kids to come out and play.
The Ending
We all have regrets about being parents. That comes with the job. Mend a broken relationship. Reach out to a loved one. Build back the bonds that have been torn. We need more love.
There are plenty of people that still have a relationship with their kids and families. These relationships should be cherished forever. We need each other.
