We Need A Handshake
The excitement of achieving something great causes people to celebrate, often in a hug or a high five, maybe even jump in the air and bump against each other.
However you celebrate, there is one common characteristic that is the same. We celebrate together with our team.
Celebrate The Good Times
When a team overcomes a challenge, they have every reason to celebrate. A celebration is often done with smiles and cheering. This is a great way to celebrate. Slap hands and hug and relish in your accomplishments.
"Your team" can mean a lot of different things and there are a lot of different things to celebrate. From winning the world cup to peeing in the potty for the first time. Any opportunity to celebrate is a great time to share excitement with those that you devote time to and appreciate.
Celebration doesn't end when the immediate excitement hits, often people reward themselves with a treat. A World Cup winner may be buying their mom a house or a new yacht but a little kid just going potty in the toilet for the first time might be super excited to get some chocolate chips.
A reward for a positive behavior reinforces positive behavior as the Pavlov's Dog experiment.
The next time you need to celebrate try a new handshake. This one has a reward built in!
Milkshake Handshake
We made this handshake into a poem.
Slap your hands, slap your wrists,
Slide your your hand, bump your fists,
Thumb war fingers, grip real tight.
Thumb war fingers, Fight! Fight! Fight!
When you thumb is pinned,
So sorry, you lose,
Make a milkshake, winner's choose.
Still don't let go, one Last thing to make.
Shake all hands together, a thumb war handshake.
