Minute Read

New Nursery Rhymes

My kids are imaginative and always have interesting ideas about what happens in their lives. I have turned some of those ideas into New Nursery Rhymes. Turn you kids creative.

The hope is that these new and silly Nursery Rhymes mix in with Mother Goose and, hopefully, make you laugh.

Finding Time to Make Rhymes

I do enjoy sitting down with my kids and making up silly rhymes, usually this happens on a Saturday or Sunday morning. We have the chance just to sit down and say silly things.

Below is a compilation of poems that are inspired by my kids and other people.

Oh, Snake

Oh snake, Oh snake,

There's a lot on your plate,

Two mice and a rat,

Do not eat all of that.

Your eyes are so big

Your stomach too small.

Oh snake, Oh snake,

You'll get a  tummy ache.

Oh, Butterfly

Oh my, Oh my, Butterfly, Do you know how to fly?

Oh my, I'm a butterfly, I don't know how to fly.

Oh my, I'm a butterfly, falling in a loop,

Luckily, I came prepared, I'll pull the parachute.

Frog Play

I am a frog, see me jump

My favorite place to sit, stump

I am a frog, hear me croak

I love the sound of wind in the oaks

I am a frog, watch me swim

Webbed hands and toes are my fins

I am a frog with a long tongue

Holding my breath with my super lungs

I am a frog watch me eat

I am a fly and I’m dead meat

Oh, Stella

Oh Stella, Oh Stella, do you have an umbrella?

The clouds are turning grey.

Find some shelter so you are not stuck

In what the dark clouds bring of lighting and rain.

Ant Trouble

I am the ant that carries the water

Miles I walk, my back strapped with jugs

This isn't for me, I want to juggle

A lot of long days working for the Bug

Juggle while working got me in trouble,

I tried to explain it wasn't my fault,

When I spilled water in the bug hole,

After I tripped over some salt.

A terrible result for learning to juggle,

Perhaps I should have learned to vault,

Jumping wouldn't have been a struggle,

Instead, I manned a water assault.

Night Light

Night Light, your lights are so bright.

You chase away the dreams that fright.

Your light emits a peaceful glow.

Everything you touch is on show.

I am sad when you  go away.

I wish you could stay up and play.

When the Sun comes up you go to bed.

But I wish you'd stay out instead.

But sometimes you don't come out,

You hide your face behind the clouds,

Or the sky is black in silent tune.

But if you weren't silent, no new moon.

Burritos, Please

I love my burritos mean,

Full of beef, cheese, lettuce and beans,

Today I made some fresh guac,

Next some rice and queso sauce.

Peppers and chilies to give it spice.

I grab the fresh salsa off the ice.

Cupboard shows, tortilla bag empty,

Sudden sadness's sharp knife cuts me.

My mind goes to the place of nuts,

Back it comes, we'll make burrito guts.

Grab a bowl and throw it all in,

Can't stop my feast of Mexican.

A Snowman with a Name - Credit to my Daughter, this was completely her idea.

A Snowman that was named No Man.

You are a very weird Snowman

What a Goat Eats

I am a goat and I have horns on my head.

I eat weeds in the morning and climb on the shed.

My beard is called scruff and feet are called hooves.

Trash for dinner, my farmer disapproves.

Putting me back in my cage will make me a grump.

Maybe this afternoon, a broken fence I’ll jump.

There is nothing out here to wild or vicious.

As a goat, my goal, fill my belly with mischief.
