Why We Grow
You will meet people in your life that change you. They make you want to be better or do something a different way or try a new experience that is uplifting and meaningful. Embrace the positive changes. Push your self to do something new. Gain a new skill and use it.
With that outlook, I wrote this poem for my oldest daughter when she was born. She changed my life. She put a lot of things into perspective that were all of a sudden important when she was born. The meaning of love, how we serve others, and a desire to be spontaneous and silly.
My Role for You
Life is short and most times sweet,
We come across so many people we meet.
People to help us laugh, help us love,
As if they are a gift from our God above.
But this poem isn't about you or me,
It is about the life we live and how we use our agency.
So I give some words of advice,
Perhaps a memento to live your life.
Because we can jump and we can run,
We can make everyday fun.
Positively looking at the day,
Entertaining others in different ways.
This is the example I give to you,
Remember to yourself be true.
For when you are old and looking back,
You'll want to have great memories in your pack.
A treasure trove of happiness,
That to you, your life, will bless.
Think of what you learned at home,
And one day you'll be writing the poem.
We Are Examples
I believe we are on this earth to be examples to others and to leave a treasure chest of memories for our kids. I have a lot of other beliefs about why we are on this earth but this one is important to me today.
If you do not have kids, You impact other people as well. I am not hating on people without kids, they have a purpose in our society might not be at that stage of life yet. We can all be examples to others.
In a family unit, those examples are etched into the lives that are raised there.
