Sidewalk Chalk Paint Gets Creative

Sidewalk chalk has been used for a while, typically in summer months. This calcium sulfate (gypsum) products is used to promote events, play games or just entertain kids from spring to summer and into fall.
Today, little has changed to advance sidewalk chalk. Really, what needs to change? There are kits with stencils that can help kids put a shape to the color they want to use. There are even devices to hold the chalk in your hand easier. Not to mention, almost, any color you need to get creative on concrete.
There is one aspect of this that has been widely overlooked that we want to bring to light today. Sidewalk Chalk Paint is the new craze.
How To Make Sidewalk Chalk Paint
We have all been there, when the most used color is to the end of its life and it is finally time to throw it in the trash because we don't want to grate our finger tips off! Oh yeah, we sympathize.
Here is a simple recipe to give those tiny sidewalk chalk shards some new life:
Takes five minutes to make and will provide hours of fun for the most creative among you (depending on the size of brush and amount of chalk).
What you will need:
sidewalk chalk, your color choice
a plastic bag
a rolling pin or hammer
water
a paint brush
A 16 oz. cup
Painters Tape (optional)
Instructions:
Place the sidewalk chalk into the plastic bag (a sealable bag works great). Pulverize the chalk into a powder (parental supervision and execution recommended) using the hammer or rolling pin. Be sure all of the chunks have been turned to powder form. Mix equal parts sidewalk chalk and water in the cup. Stir until mixed well (This doesn't really stir well but good luck). Apply the sidewalk chalk paint with a paint brush. Use on sidewalks with permission only. Rinse out brush after use. If you want some nice clean lines, put tape down, paint over it and the concrete surface and then remove the tape.

The Joy Of Using Sidewalk Chalk Paint
Sidewalk chalk has been around a while and most people can sympathize with the fact that it dries out hands and gets all over everything. Sidewalk chalk paint can still get on things but it doesn't dry out those hands. It also is easier to get the right shape and make intricate details with finer brushes.
Enjoy this awesome product with the creatives in your life. Dress up that driveway and give the sidewalks a reason to be walked.
