The Inspiration

As winter approached, we got the house ready for a snowy winter in the rocky mountain region. We waited and waited for snow and it really never came. I created this poem to "build a snowman". This snowman felt like the only one we would be building this year.

The Snowman's House

I am a carrot faced, coal-eyed snowman

The air isn't cold, in fact it's wet and humid

Stacked up in balls with buttons, scarf and hat

I should be melting but I stand tall and fat

When the ground shakes the snow fills the skies

You can always see me, I have nowhere to hide.

I dreamed to be a doctor or wear the judges robe

But I'm stuck in my house of glass, a big snow globe.

The Outcome

Turns out there was enough snow to make our own and put him in his own house.
